What I learned
In my Strategic Planning course, I was assigned to develop a preliminary strategic plan for a healthcare organization. I chose to focus on Dawes Fretzin Dermatology, where I currently work, and completed this project during my last semester at Indiana University Indianapolis. The assignment required an in-depth analysis of the organization, including evaluating its internal operations, market position, and competitive environment. This project was particularly challenging because it involved collecting and interpreting a large amount of data to support strategic recommendations. However, it provided valuable hands-on experience in applying strategic management concepts to a real-world healthcare setting. Through this process, I strengthened my skills in data analysis, critical thinking, and problem-solving. I also gained a deeper understanding of how strategic planning can drive organizational growth, improve patient experience, and enhance overall operational effectiveness within the healthcare industry.
